PROVIDENCE, R.I. Health insurance policies would be required to cover hearing aids under a bill passed by the General Assembly.
The Senate approved the bill in conference yesterday. The House of Representatives passed the legislation in May.
The bill will require all insurance plans and contracts in the state to provide 400 dollar coverage per individual every 3 years for hearing aids. It would take effect starting January 1, 2006.
The bill was sponsored in the House by Representative Robert Jacquard, a Cranston Democrat.
