A state survey finds nearly six percent of Connecticut residents without health insurance.
The survey released today by the Connecticut Office of Health Care Access says about 5.8 percent of state residents -- or 196,200 -- were uninsured at the time they were surveyed.
The survey, which was done between March and July of last year, says low-income families, Hispanics and young adults are the likeliest to be uninsured.
The survey included more than three-and-a-half thousand telephone interviews. It also found that 64 percent of residents are covered by health insurance provided by their employers.
That's down from 66 percent in 2001.
The survey's margin of error was less than one percent.
